The purpose of this collection of my essays is simply for us to use God’s Word as our guide to life. And its goal is, of course, to help us achieve success and abundance according to its standards.
Specifically, my Scriptural basis are the books of Psalms and Proverbs.
For my references, I use two classic commentaries: Charles Spurgeon’s The Treasury of David, his phenomenal work on the book of Psalms, and Matthew Henry’s Commentary on the Whole Bible.
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. — Psalms 119:105 ESV
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. — Psalm 1:1-3 ESV
Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called blessed. — Proverbs 3:13-18 ESV
